Sept 30–Oct 6 planner: PFW day 3 today (Courrèges, Balmain, Tom Ford) → Chloé/Balenciaga Oct 1 → Loewe/Givenchy Oct 2 → Croatia–England Oct 3 + Arc day 1…
Key takeaways
- Sept 30: PFW day 3 (Courrèges debut 10:30am, The Row noon, Balmain 1:30pm, Tom Ford 8pm) inside strike day 3. Oct 1: Chloé, Carven debut, Balenciaga, Rick Owens, Schiaparelli.
- Oct 2: Loewe, Casablanca, Lanvin, Givenchy, Yohji, Victoria Beckham. Oct 3: Croatia vs England (Rijeka) + Arc day 1 + Valletta Notte Bianca + CELINE/Hermès/Elie Saab.
- Oct 4: the 105th Arc (ParisLongchamp) + Miu Miu 1pm + Valentino's Paris return 3:30pm. Oct 6: Vuitton closes PFW + England vs Czechia at Wembley. Countdowns: Halloween D-31, Toussaint D-32.
October arrives tomorrow, and it arrives loaded. The last four days of Paris Fashion Week, the world’s richest turf race, England’s two most important away-and-home nights of the autumn, Malta’s all-night arts festival. All inside seven days, all inside a transport strike. This is the definitive planner for Sept 30 to Oct 6: what happens each day, where to be. And what to book now.
From the press box — Elena Marsh: Schedules via FHCM final calendar, France Galop, UEFA/historical fixtures. Events via Euronews/Independent; strike via RATP/mobilitycenter. Times from official calendars; verify live before travelling.
Tuesday Sept 30: day threes
PFW day 3: Courrèges 10:30am (Drew Henry debut), The Row noon, Balmain 1:30pm, Dries 3pm, Stella 4pm, Acne 6:30pm, Tom Ford 8pm. Strike day 3: CGT open-ended since Monday 7pm; plan every transfer on foot or Line 1/14. Tonight’s move: Tom Ford’s 8pm closer, then the Marais after-parties. Or the livestream and an early night, because tomorrow is the week’s heavyweight day. Football-wise: digest last night (England 2-0 Prague, Spain 4-1 Seville) and start thinking Rijeka.

Wednesday Oct 1: the midpoint
PFW’s centre of gravity: Chloé 10am, Carven 12:30pm (Kai Nesselrath debut), Balenciaga 2pm, Rick Owens 5:30pm, Schiaparelli 7pm, Isabel Marant 8pm. This is the day editors call the season’s verdict. Two debuts in two days, the big houses in formation. Public side: SPHERE day three, street style at its peak. October’s first day deserves a proper start: book the morning, stream the afternoon, walk everywhere.
Thursday Oct 2: Loewe to Beckham
Loewe 11:30am, Issey Miyake 1pm, Casablanca 2:30pm, Lanvin 3:30pm, Givenchy 5:30pm, Yohji Yamamoto 7pm, Victoria Beckham 8pm. Plus The Bureau opening its ticketed doors at Espace Cléry (Oct 2–3), the public’s best route inside the machine. Thursday is also departure day for the weekend’s travellers: Rijeka-bound England fans, Longchamp-bound racing crowds, Valletta-bound culture seekers. Evening trains and morning flights — book the flexible fare, the strike is still on.
Friday Oct 3 (eve): choose your Saturday
Saturday packs four events into one day. Croatia vs England, Rijeka — second vs third in Group A3, the away end on the Adriatic. Arc day 1, ParisLongchamp — the meeting opens, Group 1s stack up, the hats arrive. Notte Bianca, Valletta — Malta’s arts night across the whole city, free. PFW Saturday — CELINE noon, Hermès 3pm, Elie Saab 4:30pm, Comme des Garçons 5:30pm. You cannot do all four; pick by city and commit. Our call: Paris for the double (runways by day, Longchamp’s eve by night), Rijeka for the football faithful, Valletta for the sun-plus-culture play.
Sunday Oct 4: the Arc + the runways
The 105th Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, ParisLongchamp, mid-afternoon — €5M, Daryz defends, geldings in for the first time. Around it, PFW Sunday: Lacoste 10:30am, Miu Miu 1pm, Valentino’s Paris return 3:30pm, Mugler 6:30pm. The split we recommend: runways in the morning (or streams), RER C west at lunch, Longchamp for the card, the Arc as the afternoon’s centrepiece. Sunday evening: rest. Monday is empty on purpose — use it for the museums the crowds skipped.
The countdown board: after this week
Oct 6 closes one season and opens the next. From Tuesday: Halloween D-25 (Derry, Transylvania, Salem and the Paris events from Oct 3 already warming up), Toussaint D-26 (the Oct 17–21 strike notice still hanging over the school-holiday getaway), Día de Muertos D-25 (Oaxaca’s final programme lands any day now). And the ETIAS watch (Q4 window still official, 2027 in the frame. Our travel-tips desk tracks it daily). November then stacks half-term returns, the November internationals (England–Croatia at Wembley, Spain–England in Spain). And the Christmas-flight booking window our Sept 27 guide opened. Pin this board to the fridge: the autumn has a shape, and this week draws it.
Booking checklist for the week
Five bookings to make before Sunday: 1) Rijeka logistics (flights to Zagreb/Ljubljana + coast road, or the rail corridor via Vienna) for Saturday’s England game. 2) Longchamp entry for the Arc weekend (two-day badge if you’re doing Saturday’s card). 3) Valletta stay for Notte Bianca if Malta is your play — Oct 3 weekend is tight. 4) Oaxaca/CDMX stays and cemetery-night guides for Día de Muertos. Five weeks out, the good ones go first. 5) Flexible fares for everything in France until Oct 20 (the walkout calendar). Tick all five and the week runs itself; miss one and you’ll feel it. A final note on the strike: the walkout calendar runs to Oct 20 across RATP, SNCF and aviation. So every booking this week should carry the flexible fare. The few euros extra are the cheapest insurance October sells. Screenshots of timetables beat app-refreshing in a tunnel; paper still works when batteries don’t.
Monday Oct 5–Tuesday Oct 6: the double close
Monday: PFW’s penultimate day (Chanel. And the week’s quiet deals), recovery day for the weekend’s travellers. Tuesday Oct 6: Louis Vuitton closes Fashion Week — the traditional finale — while at Wembley, England host Czechia in the evening, with the home crowd expecting a second straight win to open daylight in Group A3. Fashion’s month and football’s autumn end their weeks within hours of each other. Then the countdowns take over: Halloween D-25 from Oct 6 (Derry, Transylvania, Salem, plus the Paris October events already warming up), Toussaint D-26 (the Oct 17–21 strike notice still hanging over the school-holiday getaway), Día de Muertos D-25 (Oaxaca’s final programme lands any day now). And the ETIAS watch (Q4 window still official, 2027 in the frame. Tracked daily on our travel-tips desk). October’s first week sets up the whole season — be in it. See you in Rijeka, at Longchamp, or on the night bus home.
